The wildlife preserve known as Cucumber Gulch ensures that visitors and residents know how susceptible the Breckenridge area is and to be sure it is protected for future generations to enjoy. Often you will see such animals as moose, beavers and deer in this area.

You can also explore some back-country at Montezuma Ghost Town, which provides a glimpse into the mining era.

Parks

Among the parks of Liftside to roam and enjoy is Kingdom Park, which offers two softball parks (both with lighting accommodations), playgrounds for younger children, four tennis courts, and an area for whitewater kayaking. The 100% free Breckenridge Skateboard Park provides skate enthusiasts with a nine-foot in depth bowl area for individuals at all skill levels.

For those who enjoy a game of golf, there are four golf courses, such as the Bear Nine, which also offers magnificent views of the Colorado Rocky Mountains and an occasional view of deer or red-tailed hawks.

Every fall, the annual Oktoberfest brims with festivities such as parties, polka music and dancers, and foods such as German cuisine while enjoying the fall foliage. Among the monthly events is the 4th of July celebration, which includes a parade, plenty of hot dogs and fireworks and even the Firecracker Mountain Bicycle Race.
